The role of MeCP2 in learning and memory through transcriptional repression and activation. Altered deacetylation results in altered transcriptional repression, resulting in impaired spatial memory, fear learning, and social memory. Preventing MeCP2 phosphorylation results in no release from Bdnf, resulting in improved spatial memory and fear learning.
