
The cover depicts the binding of event-details across spatial and temporal gaps. This spatial-temporal integration is essential for episodic memory. In this issue, Zerbes and Schwabe (LearnMem 26: 473–484) used EEG to elucidate the neural underpinnings of spatial-temporal binding. The authors show that theta oscillations in particular were linked to successful mnemonic binding. Moreover, the authors show that acute stress amplified the effects of spatiotemporal discontinuity on early information processing and that glucocorticoid stress hormones were linked to better detail memory, indicative for mnemonic binding.
