
Experiment 1. (A) Experimental protocol. Seventy-two hours after contextual fear conditioning, rats were reactivated for 1, 4, or 5 min by exposing them to the training context, without shock. A fourth group served as a control without reactivation. All groups received 3 mg/kg of midazolam (MDZ) or an equivalent amount of saline (SAL) immediately after reactivation. Twenty-four hours later, all groups were subjected to a 5-min test in the training context. (B) Data show the mean ± SEM of percentage time spent freezing during reactivation. (C) Data depict the mean ± SEM of percentage time spent freezing during test.
