Accuracy at identifying the unique object for controls (CON, n = 8), patients with hippocampal lesions (H, n = 6), and a patient with large medial temporal lobe lesions (MTL, n = 1) across eight levels of difficulty (eight trials/difficulty level). Patient performance was similar to that of controls at difficulty levels 1–4 (A) but was impaired at difficulty levels 5–8 (B). Brackets show SEM.
